Where have you been all my life?

7 months on, and I'm hopefully back into it!

A fair bit has happened since August last year but nothing out of the ordinary!

The usual birthday celebrations, weekends out and away, Christmas and New Year all took place on their respective dates. New friends made, old friends coming into contact, loved ones passing and new life being born. Wedding planning galore, gah so much now that I think about it so ill try list what I can remember.

Dan had his knee surgery which was a success! After very little time recovering at home he was back at work on crutches (his choice). It look a long time for the swelling and fluid to go down but it most of the time resembles a normal shaped knee. He still walks with a slight limp but you wouldn’t think he had hurt it sometimes.
He started doing stretches and exercises at home, as well as joining me in a Monday Balance class for some yoga and pilates (and to see how many times he can make himself fart), but has started pre-season footy training with his football club and started doing some running again.
He does get some pain from over using it some times. He was the umpire for a scratch match the other week and could hardly walk the following day (but that’s also because he hasn’t run that much in over a year) and he is going to be runner this year with the hopes of being able to play again in 2014. Fingers crossed for him

As I mentioned some time last year, I am the maid of honour for my bestie Danika. Her wedding is under a month away and the excitement builds everyday! I have tried to help as much as possible in all that I can and have enjoyed every minute of it! I never realised how much work and organising goes into such a big day but its totally worth it. Everything is looking fantastic! Think of the brightest rainbow you can imagine, then imagine it exploded in a massive room! Now think of the party of the year and put it in that setting! That is going to be Danika’s wedding! *Squee and our bridesmaide dressing I absolutely love! I will try keep some updates as to what happens in coming weeks so I can look back and remember what an awesome day this is going to be.
Also the hens party is coming up soon as well hehe more on that too

On the subject of weddings, 2 more of my close friends got engaged in the last few months. Good friends Chelsea and Ash get engaged late last year :D and Chelsea asked me to be one of her bridesmaids :D :D
Her wedding is in October this year and she has pretty much organised the whole thing already! She has her dress as do us bridesmaids, the ceremony and reception venues organised, cars, save the dates are out, she is on top of it all! It going to be a very cool wedding I think! I feel bad that I am not as excited about Chelsea’s as much as Danika’s atm, as I’m mainly focusing on Danika’s as much as possible. But after April 13th (woooo) I’ll be able to start focusing more on Chelsea’s and get getting super excited etc

Also my friend Ant who is my old housemate and who I went travelling with in 2011, he proposed to his girlfriend on Australia Day! Am very happy for him. Their engagement party is the weekend after Danika’s wedding and they are getting married in Phuket in March next year. Hopefully will save enough to be able to go!

Onto a sadser note, 2 lives were lost late last year which affect some people very close to me, and myself. A dear friend’s Pa sadly lost his a battle with cancer in December. Although his family had time to prepare for his parting, it is still never easy and always impossible to say goodbye. He passed surrounded by his family and his funeral was filled with many who loved and respected him. It was a lovely funerals and he is very much missed by his family and friends. RIP!

Another terrible loss was a friends little toddler. He climbed into his pool when no one was looking and unfortunately was discovered when it was too late. They rushed him to hospital where they managed to get a heart beat and got him up to the city hospital where he was on life support. Unfortunately his little body couldn’t handle what it had been through and wasn’t going to recover. His died exactly 18 months old to the minute, a beautiful little angel. He has helped save 2 other lives though organ donation which is a small light in such a dark time. His funeral was so beautifully held and I do not think there was a single dry eye in the room. He cheeky smile, stunning blue eyes and mischievous nature will never be forgot by anyone who’s life he has touched. RIP Bubba.

On a lighter note, Christmas was a busy yet fun day, starting at Dans parents for breakfast. His parents gave us a video camera to take overseas which is fantastic!
Then it was onto my parents for lunch with extended family. Then after that it was off to the beach to see Dans extended family for late lunch (lucky we missed that though because I couldn’t eat another piece of anything!) and for the dogs to have a play and a swim! Then it was back to mums to pick up sonic and presents and to head home for a swim in our pool! Busy, tiring but always a great day!

Annual Smith/Jurgo Xmas Light Looking Drive

New Years wasn’t a major event. Was very quiet with the boys playing pool, and 3 of us girls trying to party haha but as New Years, Jarryd and Bcc snuck off to their block and came back engaged :D :D :D so another wedding to look forward to in the future. I have been asked to be a bridesmaid as well!

Myself, Bek & Billie on NYE after Bek told us how Jarryd proposed! :D

Haha is slowly becoming always the bridesmaid, never the bride!

In saying that Dan and I are going well. He is officially the longest boyfriend Ive had haha We do have our issues and our small fights we work through, what relationship doesn’t, but I love him very much and couldn’t imaging being without him. He is very sweet and caring, even if he does some times put on a macho show in front of the boys (I’m the only girl with 3 other boys in the house *sigh) Our 2 year anni is coming up yay :D

Well, on top of all that we also had a couple of big parties like Mine and Scotty’s Joint Birthday party (a wild night at home), Boori’s 25th Bday at his and in town! Couple of other nights in town were had as well! Then we had Australia Day! Such an epic day! Thrift Shop was number 1 on triple J!

One more quick thing, we are off to America & Canada on June 1st, more on that too soon! YAY
